PTI’s Javed Nasim joins PML-Q ahead of 2018 elections

ISLAMABAD – A lawmaker from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday quit Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q).

Javed Nasim, who had been at odds with the PTI for several years, was elected to the provincial assembly from PK-3, Peshawar in the 2013 general elections.

He made the announcement after reaching PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat’s residence from Peshawar along with his supporters. Shujaat and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi greeted Nasim and his entourage outside their residence.

Yesterday, a provincial lawmaker of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Faisal Farooq Cheema, joined the PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The development followed Cheema’s meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Former PTI secretary general Jahangir Tareen was also present in the meeting.

Cheema was elected to the Punjab Assembly from Sargodha in the 2013 general elections and hails from an influential political family in the area.
