KP govt given one week deadline to shut down quack doctors

PESHAWAR – Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Healthcare Commission to launch a crackdown against fake doctors across the province.

The chief justice issued the directions while hearing a case regarding quack doctors in the province at apex court’s Peshawar registry. The top court has given a one-week deadline to the authority for shutting down the fake clinics.

The chief justice also took the health commission chief to task over inaction against the fake doctors, saying “your output is zero despite receiving Rs500,000 salary per month”. He asserted that it was the duty of the commission to take action in this regard.

In response to a query, the health commission head informed the court that as many as 15,000 quacks are present in the province. Then, the chief justice ordered operation and sought a report on the issue.

Earlier, the Supreme Court appreciated the performance of Inspector General Police, KP, Salahuddin Mehsud for complying with the court orders regarding withdrawal of security from unauthorised persons.

To which, the chief justice remarked: “You did a good job, Thank you!”. He also expressed satisfaction over the performance of the KP police head.

CJP Nisar continued, “If the court can salute anyone then I salute IGP Salahuddin Mehsud”.

Talking to media, the IGP said that the security was called off by midnight, adding that the department, earlier, withdrew security from 900 persons in past three months.
