Railways to run more special trains on Eid

ISLAMABAD (APP) – In a bid to extend maximum facilities to passengers, the Pakistan Railways is planning to increase the number of Eid Special Trains run across the country this year.

“This year we are planning to ply more than fourteen trains on Eid-ul-Fitr for which a comprehensive advertisement campaign will be launched to aware passengers,” an official in Pakistan Railways Headquarters told APP on Thursday.

The administration of the Pakistan Railways was working on the plan and a final decision in this regard would be made during next week, he added.

Last year, he said, Pakistan Railways had run 14 Eid special trains to accommodate maximum number of passengers, who belonged to far-flung areas and wanted to celebrate Eid with their near and dear ones.

He said that the trains were likely to run from Quetta, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, adding that this move would also enable railways to generate extra income.

“Pakistan Railways had taken several steps to facilitate the passengers as railways was a cheaper mode of transportation for general public,” the official added.
