Murad Ali Shah declares property worth millions in assets detail

KARACHI – The former Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah has declared assets worth more than Rs213 million in his nomination papers.

As per his nomination papers filed to contest general elections 2018, Shah, who also remained the finance minister in the previous provincial government, is the owner of a house in DHA Karachi worth Rs11.5 million and also possesses 51 acres of agricultural land in various areas.

The Pakistan People’s Party leader has also listed ownership of two vehicles worth Rs2.2 million and Rs12 million, along with jewelry weighing 10 tolas.

Moreover, Shah possesses $264, 368 in a bank account as well as a trust spread over 275 acres.

This year, the Election Commission has not uploaded the statement of assets on its website but the document was shared with journalists on payment of Rs1,000 per copy. The ECP has already removed the asset details for the years 2013 and 2014.

Under the Representation of People Act 1976 Section 42(A) and Senate Election Act 25 (A), it is mandatory for parliamentarians to declare their assets, their spouses and their dependents. The statement of assets has to be submitted with the ECP by September 13 each year.
