Bomb threat delays PIA flight at Sukkur airport

SUKKUR – A Karachi-bound flight of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) was delayed following a bomb threat on Monday.

The national flag carrier’s flight PK-595 en-route to Karachi from Sukkur was hit with delay due to security check after a threat for a planted bomb was given by Sukkur Police to Airport Security Force (ASF).

Authorities immediately stopped the plane just before takeoff, and the passengers were disembarked and the luggage was offloaded as per standard operating procedure.

The aircraft and baggage were thoroughly checked by ASF and Bomb Disposal Squad and were later on cleared by the concerned security agencies.

The flight, later on, took off for Karachi after a delay of more than one hour from its scheduled time of 2:45pm.
