PM Imran appoints Usman Dar as chairman Youth Programme

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar has been appointed the chairman of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.

Prime Minister Imran Khan approved the appointment of PTI Sialkot leader on Wednesday as chairman of the programme and a notification has been issued in this regard.

Speaking about Dar’s appointment, PM Imran said that he was the ‘most suited’ for the post.

Revolutionary steps will be taken for the well-being of the youth under the programme, the premier added.

Meanwhile, Usman Dar vowed to live up to the premier’s expectations, saying he has been tasked to empower the youth and ensure their progress.

‘We will launch great schemes and policies for the youth and our top priority will be to provide employment and the best training to them,’ Dar added.

He alleged that the previous government purchased laptops at exorbitant prices and caused a loss to the national exchequer.

Dar also announced that an audit would be conducted of the laptop scheme.

Usman Dar lost twice to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader, Khawaja Asif, during 2013 and 2018 General Elections.

He had also moved court against Khawaja Asif and got the then foreign minister disqualified by the Islamabad High Court, however, the supreme court annulled the disqualification following which Asif was allowed to contest the July 25 polls.

In the previous government’s term, former premier Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, was the chairman of the programme.
