PTI’s Shaikh Rashid Shafique wins Rawalpindi s NA-60 by-election

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate Shaikh Rashid Shafique won the National Assembly Constituency NA-60 Rawalpindi-VII by-election by securing 44,483 votes.

According to the unofficial results issued by Returning Officer on Sunday, Sajjad Khan of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) finished second by obtaining 43,836 votes.

Shaikh Rashid Shafique is the relative of Sheikh Rasheed – chairman Pakistan Awami Muslim League and Railways Minister. The general elections in the constituency were suspended after PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi was sentenced to jail in the Ephedrine case.

In the by-elections held on Sunday, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf bagged four seats each while Pakistan Muslim league Quaid managed to clinch two seats.
