A divine and heavenly voice and a master of Khayal genre, Ustad Bade Fateh Ali Khan, who breathed his last today, was undoubtedly one of the foremost vocalists of our times in the subcontinent.
Born in the renowned family of classical singers, Patiala Gharana, Fateh Ali Khan inherited a unique style of singing with expertise in Khyal and difficult vocal technicalities of singing. Fully versed in pure classical music, Fateh Ali Khan had a mellifluous voice and soul-stirring style of singing, a very rare combination.
When it comes to raag Darbari and Asarvi thaat, Fateh Ali Khan stood out. His unique ‘vibrato’ had no parallel.
