ISLAMABAD – Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) launched an Umrah’s training program, enabling the people to perform their religious rite in a befitting manner.
Initially, this scheme will be available for the Employees and their families, who intend to perform Umrah. Later, it will be opened for the other interested people from outside.
This was announced by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui while addressing the University’s employees who will be proceeding for Umrah on Monday.
First Umrah’s training session will be held here on Friday (tomorrow).
According to the Dean Department of Arab and Islamic Studies, Prof Dr Mohyuddin Hashmi, the Umrah’s training will be made a regular feature.
The interested people will be asked to register their name with the department.
The University’s Umrah’s scheme was restored after the gap of about six years, with the personal effort of the Vice-Chancellor, said President Employees Welfare Association Sajjad Janjua.
The scheme was held up due to some procedural hurdles.
The employees for Umra were selected through a transparent procedure. Dr Shahid Siddiqui announced that next batch of the employees will proceed to the Holy land in the near future.
Congratulating the selected employees, he said their selection is a great blessing to them by Allah Almighty, hoping they will avail opportunity with due reverence.
