Bollywood’s Dabangg Khan Salmam Khan has always enjoyed bumper openings at the Box Office every Eid. Considering this, it’s no wonder that we considered this Eid-ul-Fitr to be a lucky charm for his much-anticipated release Tubelight as well.
However, this time around, things have taken quite a different turn. Salman’s Tubelight has received mixed reviews from the audiences as well as from the critics and failed to shine its light through the hearts of the people.
The Kabir Khan directorial had below par collections at the Box Office on Day One. Also, with almost five days since its release, the film is still struggling to touch the INR100 crore mark when movie-goers were expecting it to break Bajrangi Bhaijan’s record, as reported by Business of Cinema.
According to latest media reports, two cinemas in Ferozabad and in Utar Pradesh that ran Tubelight on their screens have suffered a loss almost as close too INR1 million. Rumors also suggest that many distributors are in tears and have reached Mumbai in hope of meeting Salman and requesting him for a refund, and it sure would be a very special gesture by the actor if he agrees to compensate their grievances.
Directed and written by Kabir Khan, Tubelight is set against the pretext of the 1962 Sino-Indian War seeing Salman Khan enacting the role of a man-child. The film also features Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, Salman’s brother Sohail and the late Om Puri, amongst others, and was released on June 23.
