Military courts award death sentence to six terrorists

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday validated the death sentence of six hardcore terrorists recently tried by the military court.

The terrorists, according to the twitter feed of DG ISPR Major-General Asim Bajwa, were tried for the acts of terrorism, suicide bombings and loss of the property.

The convicted terrorists reserve their rights to appeal in the higher court, said DG ISPR.

No further information about the convicted terrorists has been revealed by ISPR.

Earlier Parliament had approved an amendment in the constitution to establish military courts to hear terrorism related cases after a group of militants attacked Army Public School in Peshawar and killed at least 140 school students.

The tragedy triggered an overall anger in the society and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted the moratorium from  executing the militants.

Pakistan army announced nine military courts in the different cities and apex committees were formed in all provinces to take decisions regarding forwarding cases to the courts.
