Iran threatens scaling up uranium enrichment to any amount that is required

TEHRAN – Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani warned Europe on Wednesday that it will “take the next step” in increasing its uranium enrichment this coming Sunday.

Speaking during a cabinet meeting, Rouhani warned that because of the faltering nuclear deal Iran was entitled to increase its enrichment of uranium to “any amount that we want, any amount that is required.”

Under the current terms of the nuclear deal brokered by former President Barack Obama, Iran is not allowed to enrich uranium above 3.67%, however, Trump pulled out of the agreement named Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

“If you want to express regret and issue a statement, you can do it now,” Rouhani said in a veiled reference to President Donald Trump’s decision.

The decision came a day after POTUS disclosed on Twitter that Tehran had breached the stockpile limit.

“They have now breached their stockpile limit. Not good!,” Trump tweeted late Tuesday.
