WASHINGTON – International community, including the US, China and others on Sunday joined condemnation of North Korea after it announced to conduct a latest nuclear test.
The world response follows a statement of North Korea in which it claimed to have successfully tested a hydrogen bomb designed to be mounted on its newly developed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), producing a greater yield than any of its previous nuclear tests.

The hydrogen bomb test ordered by leader Kim Jong-un was a “perfect success” and was a “meaningful” step in completing the country’s nuclear weapons programme, according to state television.
The announcement came hours after a large earthquake that appeared to be man-made was detected near the North’s known nuclear test site, indicating that the reclusive country had conducted its sixth nuclear test since 2006.
The tension escalated in the Korean peninsula after Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and threatened to hit the US Pacific island of Guam with missiles, and President Donald Trump warned Korea of “fire and fury” action.
USA
President Donald Trump in a series of tweets after the test described the North Korea a “rogue nation” which has become a great threat and embarrassment to China that provides aid to the Pyongyang.
Apparently criticising the efforts of China to deescalate the tension, Trump said that China “is trying to help but with little success”.
He added, “Their [N.Korea] words and actions continue to be very hostile and dangerous to the United States”.
Talking about South Korea’s policy, he said that “talk of appeasement” was not working, adding that the rogue nation “only understands one thing”.
China
China’s foreign ministry issued a statement stating, “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has once again conducted a nuclear test in spite of widespread opposition from the international community. The Chinese government resolutely opposes and strongly condemns it.”
South Korean
South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who earlier favoured talks with North Korea to settle dispute, has now sought complete isolation of the country in order to give it the “strongest possible” response on its hydrogen bomb test.
“I can’t help but be disappointed and outraged,” he said, adding that North Korea’s nuclear programme was “threatening world peace” and would only “isolate them further,” BBC News reported.
Russia
After N. Korea announced its sixth nuclear test, Russia came up with “strongest condemnation” and urged all sides to remain calm and suggest talks to resolve the Korean peninsula’s problems.
“This latest demonstrative disregard by Pyongyang of the requirements of the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and the norms of international law deserves the strongest condemnation,” the foreign ministry in Moscow said.
“In the unfolding conditions, it is imperative to remain calm and to refrain from any actions that lead to a further escalation of tension.”
UK
UK Prime Minister Theresa May described the nuclear test as “reckless” that is an “unacceptable further threat to the international community”. She urged the world leaders to join hands to bar North Korea from “destabilising actions”.
Japan
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe denounced the test calling it “absolutely unacceptable” and said latest nuclear test pose “grave and urgent” threat to his country.
“Whether we can stop North Korea´s reckless actions that threaten world peace depends on the cooperation and solidarity of the international community,” he added.
