NAB’s raid on Sharif Model Town house in violation of court orders, says Hamza

LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz Sharif has said that the raid conducted by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was in violation of the court orders.

Speaking to reporters outside the residence, Hamza Shehbaz said that the way NAB conducted the raid against him on his residence, for the first time he felt like a terrorist.

According to Hamza, the Lahore High Court (LHC) order in his case had not been dismissed by the Supreme Court.

While criticizing the NAB for conducting the raid, the opposition leader said that whenever he received a call-up notice, he appeared before the NAB despite his reservations.

Hamza stressed that he had been given permission to travel abroad to meet his daughter and had returned a day before the court given deadline.

Hamza said that no one is asking about the corruption in the BRT project, only PML-N leaders are being subjected to ‘political accountability.’

The PML-N leader was critical of Prime Minister Imran Khan, stating that his government was crumbling and this was a reaction to that. He also criticised the PTI-led federal government for poor economic performance.

We are standing with the nation. Lies and fake promises of the incumbent government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will soon dissolve it, he concluded.

According to Hamza Shehbaz’s lawyer, the LHC order required a ten-day notice prior to his client being arrested.

The high court in its order has clearly written that Hamza Shehbaz should be informed 10-days prior to any movement on his arrest and he should be given sufficient time to approach the court. In light of the high court order no arrest is possible, said the lawyer.

Earlier today (Friday), officials of the anti-corruption watchdog conducted a raid at the residence of PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif (96 H-Model Town) in Lahore.

According to media reports, both Shehbaz and Hamza Sharif are present at the residence at the time the raid was conducted.

Shehbaz Sharif’s guards exchanged harsh words with the NAB team on the occasion and stopped the team outside the residence.

However, the officials left without arresting anyone due to severe resistance.
