Vloggers Taimoor Salahuddin, Umar Khan break silence over the Pakistan tourism summit controversy

LAHORE – Pakistan is a land of natural beauty. One simply cannot miss praising the diversity of landscape, culture and beauty. The Government of Pakistan has been promoting local tourism not locally but also at an international level.

Recently, Atif Khan, The Senior Minister of KPK and Minister For Tourism had announced that a two-day summit would be held on April 2 and April 3 at Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad. The evening honoured social media influencers, all of whom were already present in Pakistan. But the noticeable thing about the summit was that not a single local vlogger is being invited by the Government at the summit.

The absence of local vloggers and bloggers had agonized many people and many took to social media to point the biasedness, saying a Pakistani summit was taking place without Pakistani vloggers and the government didn’t approach the local content creators first.

However, popular Pakistani vloggers Mooroo (Taimoor Salahuddin) and Ukhano (Umer Khan) have finally given their two cents to the current outrage. “International tourism can be better promoted by international vloggers, local vloggers love their country and love exploration, we don’t need support. We love Pakistan. If we end up promoting tourism, great! Let others come to promote Pakistan. It’s in our interest,” he wrote on Twitter.

Here are the tweets by Ukhano and Mooroo:

Umer Khan aka Ukhano: Khan had shared a series of tweets reacting to the matter. Khan shared that “Being a content creator is about creating an impact; not feeding your fragile ego.”

Taimoor Salahuddin aka Mooroo:

Taimoor Salahuddin also shared his views on the matter on Twitter saying that tourism is being promoted and local vloggers aren’t invited. Instead, international content creators were,” he said. “International Tourism can be better promoted by International vloggers, local vloggers love their country and love exploration, we don’t need support. We love Pakistan. If we end up promoting tourism, Great! Let others come promote Pakistan it’s in our interest. #Pakistanzindabad”

Mooroo also stated that he makes videos for the Pakistani audience, given its lingo. “There are some Indians who follow me as well but they really can’t visit Pakistan given the current scenario,” he added. “So, when the government invites international vloggers, who have an audience across the globe, there will be an influx of international tourism.”
