20 new buses of BRT project arrive in Peshawar

LAHORE – Twenty new buses of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) have arrived in Peshawar on Wednesday, Radio Pakistan reported.

In a statement issued in Peshawar, Provincial Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Shahram Khan Tarakai said separate portions for men and women have been arranged in these states of art buses while separate seats had also been designated for physically challenged persons.

He said that the buses had arrived in Karachi last week and it took about a week to transport them to Peshawar.

The BRT buses have been parked at an enclosure near Zarghoni Masjid Hayatabad.

The provincial minister said that Bus Rapid Transit project will be opened formally for traffic on 23rd of next month.

Mr Tarakai said that the BRT project was in full swing and he was personally supervising the progress on the BRT project on a daily basis, adding to this he said that he would not allow any further delay in its completion.
