ISLAMABAD – In order to facilitate the candidates, the Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to extend the last date for submission of nomination papers for upcoming general election.
The election body on Thursday announced that the papers could be filed until June 11, adding that the same date is also applicable to candidatures for reserved seats for women and minorities.
Earlier, the commission had announced June 8 as the final date for submission of papers.
Moreover, a meeting, headed by Secretary Election, in connection with the participation of international observers in the 2.018 general elections was also conducted on Thursday. The meeting discussed the legal provision as per Election Act 2017.
The ECP reiterated its policy to allow international observers and international media as well as national observers to participate in the process of the much-anticipated polls.
The general polls are set to be held on July 25 as interim Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and others have vowed not to delay the elections.
The process of appointing the caretaker chief ministers in all the four provinces was also completed on Thursday.
Following the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, all candidates are liable to submit affidavit comprising information missing in the nomination papers by June 11.
