COAS saddened by loss of precious lives in helicopter crash

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Friday expressed deep sorrow and grief over loss of precious lives of Major Altamash, Major Faisal, Naib Subedar Zakir, and foreign diplomats and their families in a helicopter crash in Naltar Valley near Gilgit.
“It is sad day for all of us and our heart goes out to the bereaved families at this sad moment of heir life,” the army chief said, according to Inter Services Public Relations.

Ambassadors of Norway and Philippines Leif Larson and Domingo D Lucenario Jr, wives of Indonesian and Malaysian ambassadors were reportedly killed in the crash. Ambassador of Netherlands Marcel De Vink and Poland Andrzej Ananicz were injured.
Two pilots Major Altamash Major Faisal also died in the crash. It is also reported that ambassadors of Romania and Lebanon and High Commissioners of South Africa and Indonesia were also injured.
