ISLAMABAD – Federal Cabinet has decided to abolish all budgetary allocations of ministries and divisions meant for entertainment and gifts to ensure judicious utilization of public money for the welfare of the common man, the Radio Pakistan reported.
Briefing media in Islamabad along with Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said cabinet also decided to end the culture of additional charge in all the ministries and divisions within next three months as such posts would be filled properly.
She said the cabinet was briefed by Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood regarding initiatives to bring 30,000 Madaris into national mainstream and introduction of vocational training in Madaris.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said the cabinet decided to renew the licences of cellular companies worth 449 million dollars.
She said the cabinet also approved to establish Pakistan China Engineering University at Prime Minister House with Chinese financial grant.
She said the cabinet decided to reactivate Pakistan Steel Mills through a public-private partnership.
The Special Assistant to Prime Minister said the Cabinet directed to ensure improved supply of electricity to consumers during the holy month of Ramazan especially at Sehr and Iftar hours.
Speaking on the occasion Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan said that the government has set the target to get rid of the power circular debt by December next year.
The minister said that the Ministry’s drive to curb power theft and recovery of dues has yielded positive outcomes.
He said within four months additional 48 billion rupees have been recovered and the move would touch 80 billion marks by the end of this year.
