LAHORE (Staff Report) – As many as fourteen digital text books of grade 9th, 10th and 15 Teacher Guides have been published under `e-Learn Punjab’ project geared to develop electronic content with excellence for making it available online.
Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Punjab, Dr Umar Saif said this in a meeting held here at PITB office.
He said that these digital books covering Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics and 40 story books can be studied from the website www.elearn.punjab.gov.pk. “This project has enabled the students of Punjab schools to do their homework from electronic books now”,he said.
He said the project has been initiated with the collaboration of Punjab Schools Department, directorate of Staff Development and Punjab Curriculum and Text Books Board.The project was inaugurated
by the Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in January 2014.
“The project although initiated with science subjects,is also digitizing Humanities and Arts subjects”, he highlighted.
The programme is also centred on training individuals to soundly operate this programme as 4,000 teachers of public schools have been trained for this, he said.
According to official sources, Dr Saif further said that in the next phase books of Intermediate classes would be digitized.
He said e-Learn Punjab is becoming popular among the students, teachers and parents.Its website received 53 mln hits from 0.44 mln users so far, he concluded.
