MUMBAI (Staff Report) – The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, have arrived in Mumbai to begin their week-long trip to India and Bhutan.
During the whole tour, William and Kate will remain alone and interact with high profile personalities of two countries including the Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema -who also studied in United Kingdom.
According to Indian media, soon after their arrival the royal couple reached Mumbai’s Taj Hotel to pay respects to the victims of 2008 Mumbai Attacks, where they were given frangipani and rose garlands. They laid a wreath at the memorial.
Afterwards, the royalties will embark a visit to an Indian slum in Mumbai. From there, they will reach Oval Maiden public park to play cricket with local children. They will also attend a charity fundraising dinner along with several Bollywood celebrities.
They will visit India’s famous Taj Mahal as well, to refresh William’s memories with his mother Diana -who also visited the historic site in 1992.
In New Delhi, the Duke and Duchess will visit Gandhi’s assassination site and plant a sepal as a sign to pay tribute to India’s founding father.
To meet the wildlife of India, the Prince and Princess will also tour India’s Kaziranga National Park, which hosts one-horned rhinoceroses, tigers and giant elephants.
