BUENOS AIRES (Web Desk) – Interpol has been requested to issue a Red Notice for the arrest of pop singer Justin Bieber as an Argentine judge issued arrest warrant for him following his failure to respond to summons related to allegations of ordering bodyguards to attack a photographer in 2013.
Judge Alberto Julio Banos ordered the “immediate detention” of Bieber and bodyguards Hugo Alcides Hesny and Terrence Reche Smalls who allegedly assaulted a photographer outside a nightclub in Argentina on orders of the singer.
“We are asking Interpol for Justin Bieber’s detention, anywhere in the world. Since he could not be found for his appearance to testify, we request that he be detained,” said the judge.
According to local police officials, the Red Notice by Interpol would force the singer to return to the South American country and face a trial for the allegations.
Under Argentine law, Bieber would face from one month to six years in prison if convicted on a charge of causing injuries.
“Now we just need to wait for the police to find him and bring him,” said lawyer Matias Morla, “For us, this is a triumph against all those who said this case was a bluff and that we didn’t have anything.”
Justin Bieber was also sentenced to two years’ probation last year for throwing eggs at the home of a neighbor in California.
