Finney: Swiss company announces world's first blockchain smartphone
BERN – Swiss tech company Sirin Labs has unveiled the world’s first blockchain-powered smartphone Finney.

The Finney is equipped with a cold storage cryptocurrency wallet that is not connected to the internet. This prevents hackers from gaining access to any Bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies stored in the wallet.

The smartphone features a 6-inch display with a notch on top, 18:9 aspect ratio (402PPI) and an oleophobic coating.

Finney is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The phone will pack a 12-megapixel, f/1.8 lens with laser autofocus on back and 8-megapixel, f/2.2 snapper with an 85-degree angle on front.

The handset runs Android 8.1 OS with what the company calls Sirin OS on top, and packs in a 3,000mAh battery.

Arguably more interesting are the Finney's in-display fingerprint sensor and its built-in 'cold-storage' crypto wallet.

Sirin Labs also recently entered into the partnership with FIH (Foxconn International Holding) to carry out the manufacturing of the phone. And earlier this year Huawei was in talks with the company to develop a 'blockchain-ready' smartphone.

The Finney will have glass on the rear (Corning Gorilla Glass), a metal frame, and an IP52 rating. It will sell for as much as $999.
