Police official shoots dead blasphemy suspect in custody in Quetta

QUETTA – A police official has killed a blasphemy suspect in custody inside a police station in Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan province.

The suspect named Abdul Ali was held at the Cantonment Police Station in Quetta where the policeman shot and killed him during detention.

SSP Operations Muhammad Baloch stated that the policeman identified as Syed Khan Sarhadi has been arrested.

He explained that the suspect had been arrested a day earlier. After his arrest, a large number of people gathered outside the police station, demanding that the suspect be handed over.

Later, hundreds of protesters held demonstrations outside the police station. To manage the tense situation and disperse the protesters, the police had also used tear gas shelling.
