MULTAN – A group of raged lawyers displayed their anger and stormed the newly built judicial complex in Multan as a protest against the lack of facilities there.
The lawyers who were angry at the establishment of the new building staged a protest outside the old judicial complex on Wednesday but afterwards took buses to reach the new complex located on Matital Road.
The lawyers barged into the 55-room building and started breaking the windows and doors of the new judicial complex.
The members of the legal fraternity claimed that they were against the decision to shift the judicial complex due to lack of facilities there.
Soon after the lawyers tried to disrupt the law and order situation, a heavy contingent of police was deployed outside the complex.
Meanwhile, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah in a conversation with Geo News said that the officers had been directed to engage the protesters and to stop them from inflicting any damage to the property.
“We have just taken a notice of this. We will engage the lawyers and try to reach a compromise. If we are not able to do this, the we will approach an arbitrator to resolve the issue.” said the minister.
Let it be known that the Multan’s Sessions and District courts were shifted to the new building after its inauguration on November 15.
The new judicial complex has been established at Matital Road due to blockage of traffic at Katchehry Chowk (where the old complex was located).
