LAHORE – The only female elephant, Suzi, of Lahore Zoo died on Saturday after suffering from acute pain in her legs.
Suzi was nearly six years old when she was brought to Lahore Zoo in 1992 and was 31 years old at the time of death.
According to reports, the zoo administration had stopped rides in 1999. They attempted to restart the rides in 2001, but Suzi was no longer willing to carry weight on her back.
In 2013, the administration made another attempt to start rides and this time Suzi responded well, but the rides were not restarted.
Officials said Suzi was the biggest attraction for visitors, especially children.
