Security forces stave off major terror bid in Parachinar

PARACHINAR – Security forces foiled a major terror bid in Parachinar city by seizing an explosives-laden car on Friday, ISPR said in a statement.

According to military’s media wing, a threat warning was received on March 25 about terrorists’ plan to explode a vehicle borne IED on civilians and law enforcers in Parachinar located some 250 kilometers west of Peshawar and surroundings.

Thereafter, law enforcement and intelligence agencies sprung into action to track down the vehicles and finally on May 11 managed to track a white Binjo 2005/6 Model near Kharlachi. The vehicle was fitted with heavy explosive and could have caused a lot of damage if security forces had not taken prompt action.

With a population of around 50,000 Parachinar has seen a spree of violence recently due to sectarian skirmishes.
