Toyota-Indus set to roll out Fortuner diesel

KARACHI – Toyota Indus Motors is all set to launch Toyota Fortuner with a diesel engine this month as currently, the Fortuner is being sold across Pakistan comes with 2TR – FE Petrol Engine.

The diesel Fortuner is powered by a 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine, not the 1KD-FTV 3.0L engine as rumoured before.

The new engine 1GD-FTV delivers a maximum output of 130kW@3400RPM and 450nm@1400RPM torque.

1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine has less compression ratio (15.6) than 1KD-FTV 3.0L (17.9) engine.

GD makes 450Nm of torque at 1400 RPM while the older KD variant makes 352Nm of torque at 1400 RPM.

It’s important to mention that IMC Toyota has introduced new Hilux Revo with a 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine and will start its booking from February 13, 2018.

Moving onward, the company is launching a diesel Fortuner due to growth in the local automobile industry, which has led to an exponential demand, and the requirement for a locally manufactured -diesel- 4×4 has grown alongside it.

Furthermore, what points towards the need for a Diesel vehicle is the game changer China Pakistan Economic Corridor which is also underway, and commuters need resilient and durable automotive to transport their goods, in this case, undoubtedly, handy and sporty Toyota Fortuner is, both durable and resilient.
