Tahirul Qadri back in Pakistan to lead June 17 sit-in
LAHORE (Staff Report) - Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has arrived in Lahore to lead his party's sit in, which is scheduled for June 17.

Hundreds of PAT workers welcomed Dr Qadri when he came out of Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport on Wednesday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that PAT would announce their protest strategy on June 17, upon conclusion of the sit in. He said the victims of Model Town incident could not be forgone.

PAT chief once again termed the 2014 Model Town killings an act of state terrorism, planned and executed by the top leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

He urged Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif to take measures to bring the culprits of the 2014 incident to justice, while congratulating him on a successful anti-terror operation in the tribal areas.

As many as fourteen workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek were killed in clashes with the police during an anti-encroachment operation at the Model Town office of the party on June 17, 2014.

In August 2014, the PAT chief, Dr Tahirul Qadri led a long-march towards Islamabad, demanding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to tender resignation. The long-march was followed by a 70-day-long sit in in front of Parliament House, which ended without the acceptance of his demands.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was also part of the Islamabad sit-ins.
