Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Urs celebrations begin

SEHWAN – Governor Sind Muhammad Zubair inaugurated the three-day long celebrations of 765th Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar amid tight security on Monday.

Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair flanked by PPP leader Nisar Khoro laid traditional sheet on the grave of Sufi saint Hazrat Qalandar Lal shahbaz.

Daily Times quoted Syed Ghulam Shah JIlani, advisor to CM Sindh as saying, “All kinds of basic facilities including water sabeels, heat stroke centers and medical camps arrangements were have been provided by Oqaf department.”

On February 16 this year, a bomb blast ripped through the shrine of Qalandar causing the deaths of 90 people, besides injuring several due to which strict measures are being taken by the local authorities.

Jamshoro Deputy Commissioner Munawar Ali Mahesar said that unprecedented security measures had been introduced.

The DC informed that 4,500 policemen and 500 personnel of the special branch in addition to the Rangers and the Bomb Disposal Squad would perform security duties.
