Daughter Becomes Police Officer To Capture Fathers Killer After 25 Years

BRAZIL –  A Brazilian woman dedicated her entire life to bringing her father’s killer to justice, even becoming a police officer to track him down. After 25 years of relentless pursuit, she finally succeeded in capturing the murderer.

The incident occurred on February 16, 1999, in the city of Boa Vista, Brazil. During a heated argument in a local bar, the woman’s father, Givaldo José, was shot and killed.

The dispute was over a debt of 150 Brazilian reais (about $29 in 1999). Givaldo had an argument with Raimundo Alves, the man who owed him the money. At one point, Raimundo briefly left the bar, only to return with a gun and shoot Givaldo, a father of five, in the head.

Raimundo managed to escape and was never apprehended. However, Givaldo’s eldest daughter, Gislene, who was only nine years old at the time, never gave up hope of seeking justice for her father.

After completing her education, Gislene made the life-changing decision to join the police force. After going through all the necessary training and exams, she became a police officer and reopened her father’s case. Following her investigation, she was finally able to track down and arrest her father’s killer.
