Pta To Block Sims Registered Under Deceased Individuals Starting Tomorrow

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is set to block mobile phone SIMs registered under the names of deceased individuals starting tomorrow, October 16, as part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal SIMs. The move marks the third phase of the authority’s broader initiative aimed at curbing misuse of mobile connections.

In a statement shared on social media, PTA urged families of the deceased to transfer ownership of these SIMs before the deadline expires today, October 15. The authority provided ample time for families to complete this process and assured that individuals can still finalize transfers on the final day.

To transfer the ownership of a SIM, family members must submit the deceased’s death certificate, proof of relationship, and the original SIM documentation at their nearest service center or franchise.

This measure is part of PTA’s multi-phase operation to combat illegal mobile phone usage. In the second phase, the authority had already blocked SIMs issued against expired ID cards from before 2017.

The PTA’s efforts are aimed at improving security, preventing unauthorized use of SIM cards, and ensuring that mobile phone connections are properly regulated.
