NEW DELHI – An 11-month-old Indian girl was snatched from her mother’s bed in the middle of the night and raped by a 42-year-old man for over two hours, the police officials said.
According to the Daily Mail, the incident took place at a building site in Delhi, where the family was sleeping in a tent. The police have registered an FIR and the accused has also been taken into custody.
The girl was sleeping in the bed next to her mother, father and a brother, when at around 1:00am the mother realized that her daughter was missing. Another laborer present on the site immediately called the police, which arrived at 1:30am and a search operation was initiated.
The girl was recovered from bushes along side a drain, with her clothes ripped and body covered in blood.
She was immediately taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital’s gynecology department. Doctors said that the girl’s wounds were stitched and she was out of danger now.
Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Pushpendra Kumar, while talking to newsmen, said that the accused was charged for rape in the FIR and further investigation was being carried out.
The suspect, Vijay Singh, also confessed to raping the minor girl for almost two hours, in his statement to the police.
