ISLAMABAD – The National Assembly and Senate sessions on the proposed constitutional amendments have been postponed until tomorrow (Monday).
According to media reports, the federal cabinet meeting will now take place tomorrow.
Earlier today, after a brief session, the National Assembly was adjourned shortly after it began.
When the National Assembly session, chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, started, a motion was presented to suspend the Question Hour and the call for attention notices, which was approved by the House.
The National Assembly session has been adjourned until 12:30PM tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Senate session has also been adjourned until 12:30PM tomorrow.
In a separate meeting of the parliamentary special committee, opposition and government parties conditionally supported the formation of a constitutional court.
According to reports, PTI, JUI, and the ruling coalition parties agreed on the conditional formation of the court.
During the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that they could not support the government on the issue of extending tenure.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman suggested more consultation on the bill, while PTI emphasised that legislation should not be rushed.
