Nawaz Shehbaz Likely To Visit Fazlur Rehman To Get His Support For Constitutional Amendment

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N president Nawaz Sharif are likely to visit Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence to get his support for the constitutional amendment.

The numbers game around constitutional amendments continues to be an intriguing battle.

The government and its allies are focusing all efforts on convincing Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Has he agreed or is the deadlock ongoing? No one is willing to say.

So far, the government has not been able to present the constitutional amendment draft in the federal cabinet or parliament.

As the government delegation just left, a PTI delegation arrived at Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence.

Shibli Faraz and Asad Qaiser have reached Maulana’s residence. According to reports, the delegation will discuss the proposed package of constitutional amendments with Maulana and try to convince him to keep the opposition alliance intact in these amendments.

Meanwhile, media report that Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Ishaq Dar will also visit Maulana Fazlur Rehman shortly.

On the other hand, Khursheed Shah, Chairman of the Parliamentary Special Committee, informally mentioned outside the committee room that Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed his desire to attend the committee meeting.

It is worth noting that the government needs a two-thirds majority in both the National Assembly and the Senate to pass the constitutional amendment.
