MULTAN – Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali etched his name in the history books by becoming the first Pakistani spinner to take 8 wickets in the fourth innings of a Test match. His exceptional performance led Pakistan to a commanding 152-run victory over England in the second Test, breaking the team’s 11-match winless streak at home since March 2022.
On a spin-friendly pitch in Multan, Noman Ali tore through England’s batting lineup, claiming 8 wickets for just 46 runs in the final innings. This career-best feat also earned him his maiden 10-wicket haul, with a match total of 11 wickets, surpassing Mushtaq Ahmed’s previous record of 7 for 56 in Christchurch in 1995.
England, starting Day 4 at 36/2, struggled against Noman’s spin mastery and were bowled out for 144, unable to chase the target set by Pakistan. The used pitch worked in the hosts’ favor, with Noman’s brilliance securing the crucial win and halting Pakistan’s poor home form, which had included seven defeats.
This historic victory not only solidified Noman Ali’s place among Pakistan’s top bowlers but also reinvigorated the team’s Test campaign on home soil.
