KABUL (Staff Report) – A central ceremony was held in Afghan capital Kabul as Afghanistan is celebrating 96th Independence Day today (Wednesday).
During the ceremony where most people wore traditional Afghan dresses the President Ashraf Ghani was presented with a guard of honor, for the first time since Nato forces ended their decade long combat in the region.
Throughout the country youth took onto streets to commemorate the war of 1919 when British colonial forces were pushes to withraw their invasion on August 19 in the leadership of King Ghazi Amanullah.
Many others left their hearty greetings to Afghan nation on micro-blogging website Twitter.
