CM Punjab suspends policemen, orders inquiry into elderly torture incident

MULTAN – Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice of police manhandling an elderly couple in Multan, on Monday night.

According to a spokesperson for the office of the government of Punjab, the officials allegedly involved in the incident are suspended.

Sharif has set up a committee to look into the matter and has demanded a report on the details of the incident within 24 hours while suspending the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Station House Officer (SHO), added the spokesperson

The CM has ordered an inquiry into the contemptible incident after a video emerged on social media. In the video, two police officers are seen beating up an elderly couple outside the office of Multan Development Authority (MDA).
