Man stabs police officer at Houses of Parliament in London

LONDON – Commons Leader David Lidington has said that a police officer had been stabbed in the Houses of Parliament in central London.

He told MPs the “alleged assailant was shot by armed police” following a “serious” incident, reported BBC.

The parliament and roads leading to the Parliament have been closed by the police. Transport for London said Westminster underground station has been closed at the police’s request.

It is also being reported that a fire incident occurred outside the parliament injuring dozens of people.

Prime Minister Theresa May is safe, a statement from her Downing Street office said, and she was seen getting into a car and being driven away from parliament.
