OTTAWA – Renowned Islamic scholar Moulana Tariq Jameel addressed a group of Canadian members of parliament in Ottawa last week.
The scholar exchanged views about Islam, harmony, truthfulness and other issues with key figures including Parliamentary Secretary for Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness Mark Holland, Anita Vandenbeld, Shaun Chen and other community leaders.
In his address Moulana said: “This is your country, you are Canadian citizen, be sincere and loyal to your country.”
He stated that instead of sending money back home, it should be spent in Canada. Jameel also noted that instead of forging documents for citizenship, illegal immigrants should leave the country.
After the address, that was delivered in Urdu and translated to English, the Canadian legislators took to micro blogging site Twitter and expressed their delight after meeting the televangelist.

Jameel, a close aide of late singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed, enjoys widespread popularity internationally, as well as in Pakistan.
