KABUL (Web Desk) – Afghan Taliban leader Mulla Akhtar Mansour, who was reportedly killed in a drone attack on Saturday in Balochistan, is said to be alive, according to a group of Afghan Taliban.
“The attack did occur and some important military persons were there, but Mansour was not among them,” Mullah Abdul Samad Sani said on Sunday. According to the latest audio message, the person claiming to be Mulla Akhtar Mansour says, “I am alive and well.”
A member of the Taliban press team, Emran Khalil, also published a tweet, calling the news “completely wrong”.
Earlier today, U.S president Barack Obama had confirmed the death of Mullah Mansour.
“Death of Mullah Mansour is a milestone for peace in Afghanistan. We have finished off leader of a group which would attack the US and its allies,” the American President said on Monday.
