KARACHI -The chairman of Pak Sarzameen Party, Mustafa Kamal, has challenged the results of the 2017 Census of Pakistan in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
According to media reports, the former Karachi Mayor in its application to the Karachi registry has pleaded that National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) record shows the city’s population to be 20.15 million adding that Nadra has not been consulted in the recent census.
“The population of Karachi is deliberately shown to be 16 million, which is less than its actual population,” he stated.

The petition of Kamal seeks third-party audit of the national census in order to increase the seats in national and provincial assemblies.
Talking to media after submitting the application, the Karachi-based politician said that the city was full of masses from all over the country, adding that the Chief Minister Sindh should have fought the case in Council of Common Interest (CCI) rather than accepting the results as it is.
The PSP leader said that the move of CM Sindh had reduced the metropolis budget and the silence of PPP on this critical issue was questionable.
