Shahid Masood claims regarding Kasur 'serial killer' are baseless: sources
ISLAMABAD - Television anchor Dr Shahid Masood claimed before the Supreme Court on Thursday that the suspect in the Zainab rape and murder case was patronised by political figures and had foreign currency accounts.

However, the intelligence sources categorically denied the news 'revealed' by Dr Shahid Masood, and said the revelations were baseless and untrue.

The intelligence sources said that the seasoned anchor did not authenticate or share the data with any authentic sources, even not from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), he further said that Shahid Masood has destroyed his career.

Sources confirmed that there was not any financial transaction traced through any bank, the all bank accounts which he (Dr Masood) claimed, were fake, and if it happened it maybe meager amount through easypaisa, it added.

Masood had earlier claimed that various foreign currency accounts existed in Imran Ali's name.

"I still stand by everything I said in my program," said Dr Shahid Masood.

On the other hand, the Punjab government has also issued a notification in which it has ordered an inquiry in order to ascertain as to how many alleged bank accounts did the suspect Imran Ali had in his name.

The Additional Advocate General stated before the court that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had ordered a probe into the claims by the television anchor.

The apex court ordered an inquiry into the claims made by Dr Shahid Masood and instructed the government official to present a report on it by Monday.

CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif had directed to include State Bank officials in Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe allegations leveled by anchorperson Dr Shahid Masood. Anchorperson claimed that two important personalities including one federal minister are behind this racket of child pornography.

It may be recalled that another racket of child pornography was unearth in Kasur who abused with 210 children and made their videos and sold outside country but no person was tried in this case.
