TEHRAN (Web Desk) – On his recent tour Tehran in almost a decade, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented an old handwritten Quran manuscript kept in Russia as gift to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a personal meeting.
However, conflicting reports argue the authenticity of the Quran’s copy.

According to Iranian IRNA news agency, the manuscript is the oldest kept in Russia.
While Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said the manuscript was a replica, Russian TASS news agency reported.
It is the replica of a Quran’s copy belonging to Umayyad caliph Marwan bin Muhammad bin Marwan bin al-Hikm bin Abi Aas, which dates back to nearly 1350 Islamic years.
Putin handed over the Quran replica to Khamenei before the summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
Putin’s Iran visit was the first since 2007.
