Trump s Afghan policy: Top US official postpones her visit till next week

ISLAMABAD – The US acting assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asia, Alice G Wells, who was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Monday on an emergency visit, has postponed her visit.

According to a notification issued by US embassy, the US official will visit Pakistan next week.

Alice Wells, who is also the Acting Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, will discuss the new American policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan’s reservations on the matter with the civil-military leadership, the US State Department has said.

Wells will be the first high-level US official to visit Pakistan after Trump’s remarks with regard to his new policy for South Asia last week. However, this would be her second visit to Islamabad in the month.

During her visit first meeting earlier this month, Wells met Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the federal capital.
