ISLAMABAD – Four youngsters of the same family drowned on Tuesday after their boat capsized near Attock, ARY News reported.
The bodied could not be retrieved despite rescue efforts for several hours. The ill-fated youngsters hailed from Jehangira and were picnicking near Khurd in Attock district when the incident happened.
Rescue officials said the youngsters had no prior boat riding experience, and started the boat from the river bank without realising the depth and speed of the water. Then, they attempted to turn the boat when it overturned.
Rescue officials faced immense difficulty in retrieving the bodies due to the high speed of the water. The operation was halted due to darkness and is expected to be continued next morning.
