PM Imran orders to relax rules for spurring business opportunities
ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered slashing bureaucratic red-tapeism to boost business opportunities in the country.

Chairing a meeting on Wednesday to analyze hurdles to economic growth, the premier decided to remove unnecessary legalities, rules, and regulations that hurdle the growth of business and commerce.

The participants of the meeting also exchanged suggestions and opinions to bolster business opportunities in the country.

The prime minister directed reducing bureaucratic approvals for businesses to be set up, adding that Information Technology also needs to be strengthened in order to assist business and economic activities.

The attendees agreed upon introducing laws to ease setting up and registration of new businesses whereas the prime minister also directed that weekly meetings of provincial authorities and institutions be held to achieve the goal.

The Punjab government should prepare a list of proposals to augment business opportunities through IT, the premier said.

Prime Minister Khan also appreciated the idea to set up industrial zones in the province and said he would lead efforts and activities aimed to grow businesses in Pakistan.

Such measures would help improve the country's global ranking, he added.

Among the attendees were the prime minister's advisors on commerce, textiles, industries production, & investment, and institutional reforms & austerity, Abdul Razak Dawood and Dr Ishrat Hussain, respectively, as well as Punjab's Information and Culture Minister Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal.
