MIRPUR (Staff Report) – Bangladesh crushed Sri Lanka by 23 runs in the 5th match of Asia Cup 2016.
Bangladesh set 148 runs target for Sri Lanka to win the match, played at Sher-e-Bangla cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh here today (Sunday).
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman scored 80 runs off 54 balls, hitting 10 fours and 3 sixes. Rahman was helped by Shakib Al Hasan with 32 and Mahmudullah 23.
Dushmantha Chameera grabbed 3 wickets while captain Angelo Mathews and Kulasekara shared a wicket each.
This is the first time when Asia Cup is being played in T20 format. All of the matches will be day/night and played at Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh.
