PESHAWAR: The head of Masjid Qasim Khan mosque Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai departed for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah on Tuesday.
He will come back to the country after Eid-ul-Fitr.
This has increased chances of the celebration of Eid on the same day in the country, ARY News reported.
For the past several years, Mufti Popalzai of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan has claimed that the Shawwal and Ramazan moons were cited in the province one day before the rest of the country.
A group of 50 Muftis had also issued a fatwa against him, stating that the announcement of Ramazan and Eid separate from the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was interference in state matters and against the Shariah.
