Jahangir Tareen, the disgruntled leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), and his supporters are considering founding a new political party ahead of elections.
The development came up at an Iftaar-dinner event held on Monday which was attended by Opposition Leader National Assembly, Raja Riaz and Awn Chaudhry, and other several members of dissident PTI groups.
Numerous names have been suggested for the new political party such as, Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Nazriyati (PTI-N) or Haqeeqi Tehreek-e-Insaaf. The new party plans to run in the upcoming general elections.
According to media reports, the group had not yet finalised its plan and was still debating the idea of forming a party. The group is also considering holding talks and forming coalitions with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Majority of the group members has expressed support for fighting the elections on an independent basis and mentioned the July 2022 by-elections as an example, where running on the PML-N ticket proved wrong and the majority of the members lost the elections.
However, several members proposed contesting on PML-N ticket because the party still has significant roots in Punjab. Tareen had the authority to decide anything in this regard.
